Wow. For whatever reason, it isn't easy to find outstanding ethnic food in Lincoln Park. Here's an exception. This new little Pakistani restaurant in the former Fattoush location is really something special. Their frontier chicken is flat out terrific and the Nehari (which it turns out is made by the owner's mom) is THE BEST Ive had. Much better than what we got at Sabri last week. All the entrees come with a serving of her homemade achar (pickles) which are also great. Even something simple like garlic nan is unexpectedly good.It seems the chef formerly worked at the old Sultan's Palace on Western, and the family has 25 years of Pakistani catering experience and it shows.. Between the chef. the friendly owner and his mom they are turning out food which would be remarkable for Devon, let alone North Halsted. Mom also makes the Haleem, so there's a good chance that's also going to be great. Other dishes (including chicken Charga) available on special request. If all that weren't enough to set this place apart from other Paki spots with a similar menu, this one is BYOB, so now you can actually have a cold beer with your outstanding Frontier chicken and Nehari, Can't do that on Devon.

Thanks for the tip, we're going to check this place out tonight. I appreciate the fact that it's open until 11pm every night (except Tuesday, when they're closed) as I am a habitual late dinner eater. Also, they have almost the platonic ideal of a website: hours, location, and links to the menus on the main page, and no annoying intro or music. It amazes me how rare that is.

I found the combo of chat fries/frontier chicken /garlic nan oddly delectable!

I had lunch there today. I found the food surprisingly good, especially considering the area. It's much quicker for me to go to Devon from my house, but if I find myself in Lincoln Park at mealtime (which happens from time to time), Tandoori Char House is one of the better options! I'll be back.

Yes. Beef nehari. It was very good, although it could have benefitted from using a slightly fattier cut of beef. I loved the ginger notes!

That's nehari gedempte. A rare variation on the classic dish. Phyllis actually makes this version when she uses short ribs instead of the traditional shank or chuck. Don't think you'll find that in a restaurant tho (unless mannys starts making it !).

We also had the frontier chicken rice, which was a decent enough version and some aloo palak, which might have been the best dish of the day.

I had a good meal here. I agree with everyone about the beef nehari, which was very flavorful. It's quite saucy, and I felt the need to sop up all I could with naan and extra rice, since I didn't want to leave any behind.

Two minor negatives: the mango lassi was on the watered-down side, and the service, while friendly, was slow.
