I will be am hosting the April dessert exchange on Sunday April 22nd at four pm.
I am capping the number of attendees at twelve including myself and Joel who will be making some of the food.

We are going to do a lamb and rice pilaf and salad. Let me know if anyone is vegetarian. I will keep the salad onion and garlic free.

Our house is in Mount Prospect and I will send out directions closer to the date. Fairly easy to get to and plenty of parking available.

    How the exchange works:

Bring one dessert that can be tasted and divided up among the participants. Bring containers for transporting desserts home.
    Looking forward to seeing all.

    Participants:
    1. Sue F
    2. Joel F
    3. Cathy2 - lemon icebox pie
    4. Pie Lady - Neapolitan Wheat Pie
    5. toria
    6. tgoddess
    7. irisarbor
    8. ms ingie
    9. mrkrogers

Count me in. I'm bringing Neapolitan Wheat Pie. If this is turns out not to be desserty enough, I'll bring a side dish of cookies or brownies.

I just realized that Chowathon is the day before. This is going to be quite a weekend! But how many of us can do both in their entirety?

Anything you dig. We usually don't do things like ice cream, pudding, etc. because it's not so easy to transport back home or divide fairly. Unless it's a "side dish"; people often bring a bowl of whipped cream or something to top their creations.

For a few minutes I thought I had a conflict. Turns out it was my Blackberry being stupid. I felt terrible since "no garlic and onions" was mentioned. So yes, I will attend. I will confirm my dessert at a later date.

    Hi,

My friend Helen is leaning toward attending. Crossing my fingers she makes a commitment.

I am likely making a lemon icebox pie. I have two recipes I want to try, I may offer this two months in a row. One recipe from Saveur uses fresh lemon juice. I have seen others that used frozen lemonade concentrate.

    Cathy2

Is it proper "form" for these gatherings to bring cookbooks with us to show/share recipes? I have a couple really wonderful ones, I'd be happy to bring along if folks would like to look through them.

I will bring a 1920's cake decorating book made by a German Pastry Chef who may or may not be a relative.

I've been trying to think of what I will make. Turns out that my kitchen remodeling guys won't come now until next week, so my kitchen will probably be torn up. So I'll do one of two things: a) borrow an oven and bake a cherry cheese strudel from my freezer that I prepared, but haven't baked yet, or b) bake at my church and perhaps do something with rhubarb.
