I was never a fan until I tried the one at La Unica during the Devon-a-Thon. Then I had a nice one at La Casa de Samuel. I was toying with the idea of going around to find the best flan, including flavored varieties like chocolate and coconut.

Since Cinco de Mayo is on a Saturday this year, I think that would be a good date, noon-ish. I'd like to stop at some places with good chow to boot, so we don't crash on sugar.

    Any recommendations?

    Hi,

They have a flan(ish) dish I like a lot at Mekato's Columbian Bakery.

Any flan-off has to include Dorado.

I wonder if it might make sense to focus on an area (North Park, say, broadly defined) and that way we could eat at Dorado, Mekato, San Soo Gab San, Tre Kroner, Charcoal Delights, etc. Rather than focusing on a single food, which might get tiring after awhile.

Papa Cache Sabroso has a really great flan. I think it is made for them by a grandmother-sort... It was so good that I started eating it 3 times a week, and had to stop coz my pants were not fitting anymore... :)
