So, I'm meeting an old college friend to attend a conference in Boca Raton in November; Was wondering if anyone had any dining recommendations - particularly ethnic and Asian foods.

We'll have a vehicle at our disposal.

    TIA.

You can't get more ethnic than Wolfie's Rascal House.

    Jay K,

Strong recommendation for Pellegrino's, Fran's Chicken Haven, which you linked to above, and, for a change of pace from the countless deli's, Silver Pond a slightly out of the way Chinese restaurant reminiscent of Silver Seafood in Chicago.

Silver Pond has a mixed crowd of blue hair Boca early bird Dinner No#1 with egg roll and Asian customers. I like both S and P squid and shrimp, whole flounder with ginger and scallions, pan fried noodles, roast duck as well as soups, the winter melon being particularly tasty.

Far as Jewish style delis, my two current favorites are Bagel Works and Bagel City South. Rascal House in Boca is, as mentioned, closed.

    Enjoy,
    Gary

Dang. I remember reading here about one of them closing, but I thought it was the Miami Beach one. Or is it possible both of them are gone?

FWIW, the Wolfie's website (which is obviously in need of updating) says that both of them are still open.

    Riddlemay,

Yes, the web site needs to be updated, Collins Ave in Miami Beach is open, Boca Raton closed.

Anyone have any more recent recommendations? It looks like the wife and I will have a night alone on our annual family trip and we're looking for some ideas.

I haven't been to many of these restaurants but have heard good things.

City Oyster Bar Delray Beach http://cityoysterdelray.com/

Michelle Bernstein is one of the superstar chefs in Florida and has a restaurant at the Omphoy Resort in Palm Beach. Menu looks great but very expensive. http://www.omphoy.com/indulge/michelle-bernsteins/

I used to love Max's Grill but it's been many years since I've dined there. This is in Boca. http://www.maxsgrille.com/home.htm

Trulucks has several locations in Florida including Boca and Naples, where I'm at. I like it. http://trulucks.com/pages/boca-raton-florida

I notice Todd English has a place in Boca. He's becoming ubiquitious, but I've enjoyed every one of his restaurants including Olives, Blue Zoo at Disney, and his new PUB in Vegas at Aria. http://www.wildolives.com/

A couple of updates from our annual trip...

    Daimatsu has closed.

Last year we found a great spot for Turkish food, Anatolia. They're still alive and kicking and we had another great meal this year. Such a nice change of pace from the normal steakhouse/Italian/American bistro lineup that is "Boca cuisine". Highly recommended if you're in the area.
