post College Graduation, about 3PM, late lunch-early dinner for 7 which includes 2 - 80yr old grandparents
was thinking Lawrys but they don't open till 4:30 and we're done at 2:30-3.
Every one eats meat-seafood.
Graduation is at the Chicago Theatre on State ST
it would be awesome not to park twice-or to cab to meal

Post #4 - April 23rd, 2012, 2:56 pmIf this post a large graduation event, it may be a question of where you can get a reservation if you don't act quickly. That may also necessitate heading north of the river.
Other nearby options include Atwood Cafe, Catch 35, Mccormick and Schmick's, Morton's, Aria, Park Grill Chicago, South Water Kitchen, 312 Chicago, Rhapsody. I'm sure there's plenty more.

Post #5 - April 24th, 2012, 7:20 amWe recently had a nice sunday lunch about 12:00 at Atwood Cafe for six. The space is beautiful with lots of windows. Great wait staff. The food seemed pretty good, but I was distracted since we were meeting my daughter's boyfriend's parents for the first time.
If you are interested, call ahead - there is not a lot of space in there.

Post #6 - April 24th, 2012, 5:57 pmThe mid-afternoon timing on a Sunday is a problem as some restaurants close between brunch and dinner. Atwood Cafe closes from 3 to 5 on Sunday while 312 Chicago closes between 3 and 4. Catch 35 opens at 4. Rhapsody opens at 4:30. South Water Kitchen does not open until 5.

Bin 36 - Dearborn and Kinzie
Paris Club/Hub 51 - Hubbard west of Dearborn - neither of them is outstanding but both have crowd-pleasing menus
Smith & Wollensky - State & the river: steak steak steak
Harry Caray's - more caz- Italian steakhouse
Other options in the Loop:
State & Lake - tavern-like place in the WIT. Haven't been there myself.
Elephant & Castle - chain; not super-fancy; nothing will surprise you here.
Miller's Pub - Chicago landmark - I hear the ribs are outstanding (not a pork-eater myself)- a little further south but a very quick cab ride or nice walk at Wabash near Adams."You should eat!"
