Having considered what you wrote and what the posters have replied, I'd enthusiastically endorse three of the places mentioned. In part, it depends on your judgment of your (plural) interests and predilections. Quince (where we ate fairly recently) was one of the best meals/dining experiences we've had in a long time. David Burke's is also top-notch; we had some of the best service we've ever had there, not to mention the pretty good steaks! And if seafood is a serious possibility, Oceanique (where, I must confess, we haven't been lately) is also an excellent choice.
Whatever you do, enjoy dinner. Sounds like a great time and don't forget to report back. (And if you get sick, lemme know, I'm sure I'd enjoy your Dad's company
