I was suppose to cook for mother's day at my mom's house but since her travel plans have left her stranded in Florida for the holiday. I am looking to take my fiancee and her kids out for mother's day and I am looking for some ideas in the western suburbs.

Not necessarily. I did a search on the Opentable listings for Mother's Day specials in the western suburbs, and 19 of the 31 restaurants have openings between 10 and 2 (click here).

If you want to go with the pure gluttony route of a brunch spread, I did Drury Lane Oak Brook a few years ago, and while 30+ dollars, I got my money's worth in baked salmon, waffles, and chocolate covered strawberries. Trust me, I got my money's worth. It was good too. The whole family gushed about all of the food. I seem to recall we kind of made last minute reservations, and we were fine.

This year, we're making steak tacos and spares at home. I am so giddy.

I detest going out on Mothers day because of the crowds. The clubhouse in oakbrook also has a pretty good brunch. It will be packed wall to wall. If you are going a bit farther west there are a bunch of places on the Butterfield rd strip....Kona Grill, Mc Cormick and Schmidt, Ditkas, Weber grill, Capital grill, etc.
