OK, since I only get to Chi a 2-3 times a year I need to have someone check my itinerary in case there are any red flags that I'm missing. I'm a little concerned about Katy's especially. It will be the 1st time my parents have been there. My wife and I have been to both locations but I've read a few lukewarm reviews lately. Maybe I need a backup in the West suburbs in case it falls through?

This looks like a very good list. I think your family will be pleased.

Paradise Pup is very good. But it's a trek from the city. If you are interested in some place closer, you might try Edzo's or Wiener and Still Champion, both of which are in Evanston. The French Market is pretty cool, but the options are much better at lunch.

    m. henry is a good choice for breakfast as is the now-nearby location of Bongo Room. My other favorite spot, Tweet is also in the general area. They each have their own niche (Tweet has a large selection of breakfast standards (including benedicts, biscuits & gravy, breakfast burritos and great chilaquiles) with great, organic ingredients and plenty of vegetarian options; m. henry has a mix of sweet and savory but they offer fewer "conventional" breakfast dishes; Bongo Room has a variety of creative pancake options along with standard breakfast fare.)
