Milwaukee Park system gets a beer garden

I'm going to have to check out the $4 pretzels with the kid when the heat breaks.

I think this is an awesome idea in a great location. I am hoping it spreads and they consider doing similar projects (not necessarily a beer garden) at other parks.

Hope they can keep the criminal element out of the area.
I now have to chose between alcohol, driving and my SIG P229 when outside of my residence in Wisconsin these days since the advent of Concealed Carry. Driving and self protection usually win out.
I will need a designated driver and CCW license holder to attend but we already use a designated driver for Oktober Fest at the Bavarian INN.
I can't see operating a bicycle after drinking either?
There are some Tour of Diaryland bicycle races coming up near the beer garden. Sounds like a match for attendees.

Wait, are you looking for an armed driver? Because if so, that is awesome.

Why not leave the gun at home and rent one of those 5lb glass steins when you get to the beer garden? Taking a swing at a troublemaker with one of those would be more than enough to shut them up.

My hope is that the location is far enough away from the Capitol Dr. issues.
Rarely have I been threatened in the park. Just beyond the park is another issue.

Wisconsin now has Concealed Carry, as do 49 other States in some sort of format. Illinois is the only outlier.
As such, my wife, my son and I have Concealed Carry Licenses issued by the State of Wisconsin.
One cannot use the License if one is consuming alcoholic bearages, therefore it forces one to chose between alcohol and protection. The designated driver is now the armed driver by default!
AS alluded to, areas near the beer garden can be troublesome.
I already possess 5# German glass mugs but would prefer not to defend myself with one.
I got my Florida Concealed Carry License about 1995. Works great no problems.
But with the License comes responsibiities and decisions.-Dick

Definitely looking forward to checking out Milwaukee's Drinkin' and Shootin' Family Fun Park.

I have been playing softball in that park for over a decade and never have had any problems. Leave your gun at home and go have some fun at the beer garden. Its a safe park surrounded by a tiny part of Milwaukee, Shorewood, Glendale, and Whitefish Bay. I was playing softball there last night and the place was packed. Looked like a pretty fun atmosphere.

How did you function before concealed carry, budrichard? Did you not leave your house? What has changed in the last year that makes you feel that you have to have a gun on you in what many consider a very safe park? I am just curious? I am not trying to be critical but it seems like if you were able to survive the years leading up to conceal carry that occasionally going out and having a beer without your gun shouldn't require this much inner-debate.
