Driving down Dempster on Friday evening I noticed a new Indian restaurant in a nondescript corner of small strip of stores. The restaurant looked pretty full with Friday dinner rush. I believe now with Tandoor N spice there are only 2 Indian restaurants within the vicinity (Tava being the other) .

Has anyone tryed out Tandoor N Spice Grill yet?

Tandoor and Spice took over the old Violet's Cafe' space. I haven't had the opportunity to dine there yet, but we are planning a "Table for Two" segment for MGTV in the not too distant future.

Sounds interesting, thanks - will check it out!

However, it depends what you call "in the vicinity".. with a somewhat liberal definition, there are *tons* of Indian options in this area. Only 2.2 miles away, for example, is Pakwaan on Golf Road... within about a 3-mile radius you'll find Tandoori Restaurant, Pakwaan, Tava, Malabar (Kerala-style carryout), Bombay Chaat House, India Food and Video (a Grocery Store which has freshly prepared to-go food every day), MAFS (Senior Center that sells Gujarati-homemade-food in the afternoons).. in addition to the recent Tandoor-n-Spice Grill... there is a rapidly-growing Indian population in the Morton Grove/Desplaines/Niles border area...

(The Menu of Tandoor-n-spice looks interesting however - more Hyderabadi-Indian style, a bit like Hyderabad House on Daata Durbar.. nobody else in this area, to my knowledge, has things like Bagaray Baingan, Mirchi-Salan, Double-ka-meetha and Kubanee-ka-meetha on their menu, traditional Hyderabadi-style dishes..definitely worth checking out)

I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala; what I got tasted and looked more like Chicken Korma. The chicken pieces had bones, but I am not complaining—this was one of the best Indian "gravy" dishes I've had in the suburbs. I ordered plain naan, which was decent. Next time I will opt for garlic naan. They were out of a few items, some gravy and most vegetarian dishes, but if what I received is any indicator as to the quality of the rest of the Indian menu (they have an "American" menu as well), then this is a spot I will be frequenting. The prices are decent as well; the dish I ordered was $7.99 and the naans are a $1.00 to $1.50 each.
