Hi- That was an interesting article. People do not realize how much more it costs to raise non factory farmed chicken. That is one of the reasons i don't buy a lot of meat in the stores. Right now, I can't afford a lot of free range chicken, and generally don't buy red meat because have a strong family history of colon cancer. I instead eat a small amount of cheese, and eat cottage cheese on occasion, and eat peanut butter and lots of beans and vegetables. For instance, today am fixing myself a salad made out of organic romaine bought at the farmer's market yesterday, and I am adding an ounce of shredded cheese. and some homemade salad dressing. Most people eat way more protein than what their body requires.

The only factory farmed chicken I buy right now is chicken sausage, and then I only buy it when I can get it dirt cheap. The last time I bought some chicken sausage was when Jewel had double coupons a few months ago, and with my coupons I could get Johnsonville chicken sausage for $1 a package. I just used up the last package last week.

    Hope this helps, Nancy

Nancy, what, no fish or seafood?

Tofu is an inexpensive protein source too.

Hi- I do buy tofu occasionally, and veggie dogs and veggie burgers when they are on sale. I love salmon and scallops, and I do eat tuna fish occasionally. It is just hard to find any salmon that is wild caught, and is not processed in China, that does not cost $12 a pound or more. All the frozen salmon at Aldi's is processed in China. I also love salmon burgers, but it is hard to find any salmon burgers that are caught and processed in Alaska. There is one brand that whole foods carries that is wonderful, and I buy it when it is on sale buy one get one free. Otherwise it is $8 for a package of two burgers

Does anybody here have a favorite salmon burger that actually comes from Alaska. Thanks, Nancy
