Italian Beef at grocery stores

My wife will be back up in Chicago this week and I would like for her to pick me up some italian beef, any italian beef, frozen so that it will survive the road home in a cooler to Kentucky. She doesnt want to go to Al's on Taylor unfortunately. So my ? is: what is the best option that might be sitting in the freezer at Dominick's or Jewel? After a lengthy spell away from beefs, I'm not too picky, but perhaps someone has a rec of the best possible option

If she doesn't want to drive to Al's, ask her to go to a different beef stand closer to her location. It's not like Al's is the only good beef in town. One thing's for sure, Jewel & Dominick's will only lead to disappointment.

Hit any good beef stand and ask for a few lbs.
Alternately hit up a good mom & pop italian grocer - many make their own. There are several around Oak Park I can recomend if you're gonna be up this way.

Portillo's will sell you beef to go. They'll even ship a whole package (beef, buns, etc).

There are a number of Al's locations, just find a suitable one and call to find out if they sell bulk.-Dick

Portillo's To Go package is really pretty good. I live about a mile from my local Portillo's and go there frequently but was visiting downstate not long ago and they had ordered Portillo's To Go on line and it tasted just like I get from my local one. Very well packaged and easy to use.

Sorelli's Grocery in the 6500 block of west North Ave. in Galewood, makes terrific IB and gravy to go. It is in the cooler, in a number of different sizes. The also make great sausage if you are of a combo frame of mind. They have also got a selection of peppers to go along with your sandwiches. I have used their products for years.

Exactly the one I was going to recommend.
They also make a really good red gravy, it's the only one I'll buy in a pinch when I can't make my own sauce.

Great place. I grew up eating food from Serelli's. I was also going to recommend it.
