We talked about the next dessert exchange and I volunteered to host it at my house in Wheaton. I am near major highways and easy to get to. We will have a screened porch, patio, as well as air conditioning. I am hoping all can make it, and maybe some new folk will join in. 4:00 pm

I plan on firing up the grill and making some bulgogi so let me know if there are any vegetarians attending and I will have another food option.

Attendence limit is ten not including myself.

Definitely won't be around for this one. :( I was going to carpool with LauraS, so Laura, if you're going, you'll have to navigate without me.

All you have to do is make one batch of one dessert—one cake, one batch of cookies, one pie, etc.—and we each have a taste, then take home a portion. Bring tupperware to bring home your treats! That's pretty much it.

I will put you on I must have over looked it. Still time for anyone who would like to attend. I am getting ready to resend the directions. If you can please send me your emails as I have not had too much luck with private messages although I will try again. I have emails for Sue, Cathy, Jennifer, and Ingrid who is not coming. I think Jennifer is taking the train. Lets hope for good weather and not so terribly hot although we will have shade and airconditioning too. I think our desserts might be a surprise. I know I will be making something that will not melt!!!

My dessert will be chocolate cardamom pudd'n, assuming it works. If not, some other form of pudd'n, cuz it's been too hot to turn on the oven.
I'm packing it in individual containers.

    Toria,

Thanks for your lovely hospitality. I forgot to take pictures of our dinner, though I remember precisely what we enjoyed:

    - Hummus and Guacamole with chips for appetizers
    - Kimchi imported directly from Korea
    - Sesame noodles
    - Cucumber salad
    - Bulgogi cooked over the fire

Then we got down to the business of sampling desserts:

Thanks Cathy. I do not know if the idea to eat in the screen porch was wise as it still was so hot but I certainly enjoyed the dessert part in the airconditioning!! Thanks to all.

Thanks again to toria for hosting!

This was the recipe I mentioned for cupcakes with a cookie inside. Apparently they are Nestle.
    http://www.verybestbaking.com/recipes/1 ... etail.aspx

This was the mousse recipe, minus one white, from What We Eat When We Eat Alone by Deborah Madison and Patrick McFarlin. I multipled the recipe 6x and used water instead of coffee. I would have preferred substituting ground cardamom for the seeds. I overwhipped the eggs very slightly, so this may be firm enough when done properly, but I think another 2 ounces of chocolate couldn't hurt. I bet this would be nice with mint, too.

Thank you to Toria for her hospitality and to everyone for such delicious treats.
Almost everything I took home was gobbled up by this morning.
My only regret is that I didn't pull my muffins a few minutes sooner-(still getting used to a brand new oven...)
Look forward to seeing everyone soon.

I had a terrific time at my first ever dessert exchange. I loved getting to know all those who attended. Toria was a most gracious hostess, and prepared a wonderful warm weather meal for us all. (Toria, eating in the screened porch was a treat!) The desserts were all wonderful. My son and I have been diving into them all day! If you've never gone to this exchange I encourage you to join in. I attended without knowing anyone other than Cathy2 and irisarbor, and I felt very welcomed, comfortable and wanting to attend more events!
