Anthony Bourdain is in Chicago this week filming an episode for the second season of "The Layover."

Anyone spot him yet? I guess he was at Publican last night, not sure where else.

Not interested in stalking, just curious to see what, if any, GNR's make it onto the show.

Thought it was interesting how they scrapped plans to shoot this Saturday at Budacki's in Lincoln Square because the restaurant advertised his appearance. Here's a copy/paste from his facebook post about this incident:

"Very disappointed to miss out on Budacki's hot dogs. But unhappy that shoot was advertised as a "personal appearance" and marketing device. Unlike many similar shows, we try very hard to shoot a "normal" business day. A staged "audience" screws that whole dynamic up."

And here's the offensive sign that was posted at Budacki's:

Mods feel free to move this to another subforum if this isn't the appropriate one.

I wonder if he stood in line for 45 minutes like a dumbass, or if he was able to use his celebrity to jump ahead of the hipsters.

Given the premise of The Layover (24 to 48 hours for an entire city), I certainly hope he did not waste time waiting in line for a donut. Although it would be very punk rock to blow up the show budget for a donut, so maybe he did.

The Layover is nearly unwatchable - and Bourdain is leaving the Travel Channel very soon. Combined with the unbearable weather, this show should be particularly painful, unless he spends the whole show in an alcohol-induced stupor (the schtick used in this series, sadly).

    I'll pass.

Are they really that good? I've now had donuts from Voodoo in Portland and Glazed and Infused here, and they were fine, but not worth waiting in line for (and the Glazed and Infused were NOT worth the $3 each or thereabouts).

Meh. They're donuts. If you've been to Voodoo and G&I, you get the idea.

It's amazing what people will do to be a part of the latest hype.

At risk of just being another thread derailer seeking only to discuss costly donuts and not Anthony Bourdain's fulfillment of a contractual obligation to the Travel Channel, I'll just say that - although I have not had Vaulted or Voodoo'd or otherwise hipster-approved donuts - I have to ask ... is any donut going to be worth $3.00? I say this as someone with a history of being burned by costly, tiny donuts. So caveat vorator.

My wife works in the 430 N. Michigan building and Bourdain was in the Billy Goat a couple of days ago. She said he named Dave, the bartender there, the "best bartender in the city" or something like that.
