Had a meal last night at a place we shall keep anonymous. It's been praised for its high quality, but it always seems to be completely empty whenever anyone goes.
Maybe it's my cynical Chicago nature, but if a place like this stays open for more then a year I get suspicious. When I lived in Lakeview in my younger days there was a Mexican restaurant that fit this description - I loved the food, was really high quality ingredients, but there was never anyone in there no matter what time of day or day of the week you went in there. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how the hell the stayed solvent. One day, after a few too many margaritas, I jokingly asked my regular waiter if dopers owned the place - his eyes nearly popped out of his head, and he ran into the kitchen. Wrong question to ask I guess...
