in case any of you guys are ever in Columbus OH.

Charley's Steakery (multiple locations)...best chicken philly this side of well...philly
Flying Pizza (on High Street and 15th) ..two new york style slices and a soda for @$3! excellent!
Katzinger's Deli (on Livingston) - high quality jewish style deli
J Alexanders (in the north burbs for an excellent prime rib)
Apollos (@ 12th and High St.) for an amazing steak sub.
Grinders - this is a must try! excellent grinders ...everything from chicken cordon bleu to meatball...to roast beef....to turkey rueben...omg so good! they used to deliver as well, but stopped.
Oriental Restaurant (on High and Northwood)...great sushi. ditto for Restaurant Japan...which is slightly more expensive

    In Toledo Oh try:

    - the Budapest...simply the best hungarian food for the best prices. i drool over the prospects of a place like this opening up in chicago. family run...you can get a lunch special of TONS of chicken paprikash w/a huge slabbering side of spaetzel for something like $3.99! or goulash or schnitzel..all out of this world. when relatives of mine are in T-town i beg them to pick some up for me. only downside, the lady who works the counter is gettinga little ornery in her old age....she really annoyed me last time i was there..but still well worth it!!

    - the Beirut - best arab food in T-town...a city chock full of arabs

    - Tiger Cafe - runner up in terms of arab food

    - Jing Chuan - best chinese food in Toledo, runner up is Ming Dynasty and was Jade gArden which sadly burned down.

and the famous Koto Buki - the best sushi in Toledo (Actually sylvania) with its world famous krashiyaki sauce. my friends and i actually will do shots of the sauce on its own it's so dam* good. made from scratch in the restaurant and bottled in old saki bottles. sold for like $3-5 per bottle.

Is the Kahiki Restaurant still there? (In Columbus, that is) The food was average Trader Vic's style "Polynesian", but the place was amazing, with a tropical rain forest (with "real" thunder storms) behind a glass partition that ran around the enitre inside of the restaurant. The decor was/is Kitch at its best.

About an hour or so west of Columbus is the town of Greenville. In Greenville is the most amazing little bar/tavern/restaurant, The Maid-Rite. It's very much like the Maid-Rite chain throughout Iowa but it's been a stand alone business since 1934.
They sell what you might call loose-meat sandwiches that are simply excellent. this place is busy 7 days a week and the taste is rather hard to describe except to say fantastic.
I wish I had a picture of this place but a tradition that has gone on for most of the life of the business is that people have stuck their gum on the wall. It used to just be on the side with the drive thru window but when I went back for a visit a few weeks ago the entire building is now covered in gum.
