Cafe Brauer?

We're planning to take our daughter along with some friends to the Lincoln Park Zoo this weekend and are trying to decide if we want to lunch at Cafe Brauer or go elsewhere in the neighborhood. A quick search only yielded info re: weddings and large events. Any opinions as an option for a family-friendly casual lunch? Not looking to be blown away by the food, but would like something good (as we don't get out as often as we used to pre-baby,) and with decent service. Thanks in advance for any input!

The zoo operates an outdoor restaurant at Cafe Brauer, called The Patio. I haven't eaten there, but the setting is lovely. The zoo's food options tend to be decent but expensive for what you get.

Our family's goto place near the zoo is R.J. Grunts. But there can be crazy long waits on the weekend.

The Fullerton Beach Grill is another great option with a spectacular view and good food. It is a short walk from the zoo (Fullerton & LSD).

My favorite restaurant near the zoo is North Pond. They are open for brunch on Sundays. Although that's not exactly what I would consider family friendly.

I'm not sure of the zoo itself options but Perennial is not far away and has a great and sensibly priced brunch. You definitely need reservations but the food is wonderful and the scene is fine for a family group (busy and a bit noisy, a little kid commotion won't upset anyone).
