I normally work from home, but will have to go to Ravenswood all next week. Suggestions for good reasonable lunches and dinners would be really helpful. Lunches need to be an hour max and I'd prefer being able to walk. I am planning on dinner with a friend one night so that can be totally flexible. It's been 15 yrs since I lived over there so I'm not up on what the best options are. Thanks in advance!

Mixteco Grill on Montrose and Ashland for dinner followed by dessert at Margies candies, right at Montrose and Ravenswood.

How about Spacca Napoli? Great neapolitan style pizza. I believe they are open for lunch Wed-Friday.

Here's a few places I like to frequent in my hood:
    Lunch Options:
Beans and Bagels- Good sandwiches & coffee - 1812 West Montrose
City Provisions Deli - Deli sandwiches, salads. Pricey, but tasty. - 1818 West Wilson Avenue
Marmalade- great brunch, lunch and breakfast spot, might be tight in an hour, but it can be done! - 1969 West Montrose Avenue
Glenn's Diner- Salads, Soups, Sandwiches, Cereal and wonderful seafood - 1820 West Montrose Avenue
Spaca Napoli- 1769 West Sunnyside Avenue
Real Kitchen- take out sandwiches and prepared meals- 1433 West Montrose Avenue
Slim's - fast burger joint, with solid burgers, fries & sandwiches - 2020 West Montrose Avenue

    Dinner Options:
    Glenn's Diner
Mixteco - Delicious BYOB Mexican - 1601 West Montrose Avenue
Chilipan - Great Mexican BYOB - 1522 West Montrose
    Spaca Napoli
Troquet- Bar with French bistro menu, very simple but reliably good food - 1834 West Montrose Avenue
Mythos - Excellent made from scratch Greek BYOB - 2030 West Montrose Avenue

Excellent list, raydle. I just grabbed breakfast at Beans and Bagels. I think you hit pretty much every place around there. The block on Montrose between Ravenswood and Wolcott is almost entirely restaurants.

Some others to add to the list are Margie's (which is mainly a candy shop, but also has so-so sandwiches)
El Torito (1812 W Montrose Ave) - standard hole in the wall Mexican

I wanted to add checking out Angel Food Bakery which is on a corner of Montrose and Paulina -- fun, retro desserts.

If you want to venture up a bit further towards Clark Street, there's a placed called Real Kitchen that has gourmet take out and is quite delicious. That's in the little strip mall at Montrose and Clark.

Oh -- and an related non-food note -- if you're a girl who enjoys pretty and fun things -- make sure you step into Hazel, which is between Winchester and Wolcott. Outstanding jewelry, leather goods, gift items, etc. Oh and a great selection of cards. It's my go-to for prezzies.

    Cheers!

I fully endorse this. Tremendous example of this style of pizza.

Urban Vegan is a couple doors down from Mixteco. It's you'd-never-know-it's-vega Thai food, and has great lunch and dinner combo platters in the $10 range.

First Slice at the Lill Street Art Center at Ravenswood and Montrose is great for a quick lunch. Solid sandwiches, wraps, soups (mmmm...... black bean), salads, and of course pies.

Roong Petch is still there? I lived right on Wolcott about 20 yrs ago, maybe longer, and that was where I usually went. I imagine Villa May is long gone.

Villa May on Montrose and Wolcott is indeed gone. There was another Villa May at Clark and Lawrence which closed fairly recently.
