In the wake of Mado's closing, I wasn't sure if Slagel Family Farm would still be delivering to the city somewhere. Maybe this is old news and I missed it, but they are still delivering, the new locations they've lined up are "Branch 27 on the corner of Chicago and Noble, or at the Downtown Farmstand on Randolph" according to the email I received. I believe Butcher and Larder is using Slagel as one of their suppliers so there is an option as well, though I suspect buying straight from Slagel would be cheaper than buying from Butcher and Larder. On the other hand, if you're looking for a more obscure cut, Rob at B&L might be a better bet for getting exactly what you want.

Louis John and his operation are just "up the road from me", he's the real deal. I'm thrilled to see him doing so well and believe he has merely started his growth here, and in the Chicago market.

Being from the country is a blessing for our Pub. We get to select from folks like the Slagel's, Kilgus's and Central Lean who are all literally our neighbors.
