I'm not even sure I want to know the answer but...what is "Breakfast Wheat"?

(And on a wholly related note, I guess we should be thankful that they're not marketing "Impure" Jellies or "Unripe" Olives  )

I thought the "57" was indicative of the number of varieties of pickles the company sold back in the day...

I am guessing Campbell's or Swanson.

    From the Heinz website:

What does the “57” stand for in Heinz’s famous slogan, “57 Varieties?”
While riding a train in New York City in 1896, Henry Heinz saw a sign advertising 21 styles of shoes, which he thought was clever. Although Heinz was manufacturing more than 60 products at the time, Henry thought 57 was a lucky number. So, he began using the slogan "57 Varieties" in all his advertising. Today the company has more than 5,700 products around the globe, but still uses the magic number of "57."

    Also see http://www.snopes.com/business/hidden/heinz57.asp

That list appears to come from a 1934 Heinz recipe book: http://www.advertisingcookbooks.com/home/heinz57.htm. They aren't the original products that lead to the slogan. Rather, they picked (or combined) 57 products to match their existing slogan.

Here is another old product catalog with the 57 products: http://archive.lib.msu.edu/DMC/sliker/m ... zcom13.pdf
