It is time for the annual cookie exchange.
It will be at my place from 3-5PM on December 2nd.
The same rules apply as always you bring 10 cookies for each participant of what you are making and then some extra to exchange at the actual event.
I will be making a small repast to serve before the tasting so we all do not pass out from a sugar high.
Let me know if you have any questions.
    Attendees:
    1) Cookie Monster
    2) Irisabor
    3) leek
    4) Cathy2
    5) mamgotcha
    6) food nut
    7) LauraS
    8) Allison
    9) prairieclover

    I am in!
Still deciding, but inside out almond joy macaroons are a likely candidate.
It looks like a dozen is the way to go so I will, too...

I added Ingrid to our group.
I was worried about what was happening with the cookie exchange as besides Elaine I did not get one single notification so I thought no one signed up.
Wow and behold when I checked it all these people signed up and I did not know.
This should be fun I will be serving quiche and salad or something Polish not sure yet.
    Look forward to seeing everyone.

I was a judge a couple of years ago when the theme was chocolate. The winner was not based on the fact that it was fabulous, it just rated best out of the dozen we had to choose from. So beware, the winning cookie may only be average.

    Congo Bars
    Yield: 2 dozen

2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
    3 large eggs, lightly beaten
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup graham cracker crumbs (about 6 whole crackers)
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1 cup salted cashews, chopped
1 (11.5-ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips

Combine first 4 ingredients. Add flour, graham cracker crumbs, and baking powder-stirring well. Stir in cashews and chocolate chips. (Batter is thick.) Spread batter into a foil-lined and greased 13" x 9" pan. Bake at 350° for 27 minutes. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars after removing from pan using foil to pull out the entire block of cookies.

I'm sorry that I won't be able to come to the exchange anymore. I've been fighting some nasty bug all week with no signs of getting better, and I can't see myself baking cookies with this cough. I hope this will free up a spot for another eager baker. I really really hope I'll be well enough for the Holiday party so I'll at least get to see some of you the night before. Have a good time!
