Hi- I love whole wheat couscous, but it is $2.49 a pound in bulk at Whole Foods, and I have never seen it anywhere cheaper. Most stores only have it in boxes for about twice as much money as what whole foods charges. Any places on the North side of Chicago, or in the North shore would be appreciated. Maybe there is some place on Devon I can get it cheaper? It has to be WW. I live in Evanston. Thanks, Nancy

Have you tried calling any middle eastern grocery stores?

    For example,

I haven't visited Trader Joe's in Glenview for a while, but I know I have bought whole wheat couscous there in the past. If I remember correctly, it was 99 cents for a box--probably a pound. Might be worth a call to see if they still have it.

Hi- Thanks for the info. I have to go to Northfield this Tuesday, and so I might swing around to the Glenview store. I haven't been there in a while. I might also check out the middle eastern place on Foster when I do my annual Christmas shopping in Andersonville. Last time I went to Erickson's three days before Christmas, I had to wait in line for an hour and a half just to get two items, and so I am not waiting until the last minute this time. Thanks, Nancy

Trader Joe's has gone up in price for the ww couscous over the past couple of years. I think it's now at least 1.99 for a lb which is still cheaper than WF, but no longer the ultra bargain it used to be.

At Trader Joe's, whole wheat couscous currently sells for $1.99 per 500 gram package (17.6 ounces). I bought a box but haven't tried it yet.

Marketplace on Oakton in Skokie has carried Israeli whole wheat couscous at times, but haven't seen it my last couple trips.
