Armagnac, the toast of the Musketeers, is France’s oldest distilled spirit, as noted in historic documents dating back more than seven centuries.
Tracing Armagnac's origins, David Lincoln Ross will detail the facts, origins, and lore surrounding this historic spirit and how distillation got to France from the Arab world, where it had been practiced and perfected for millennia.
The speaker will lead us through a tasting of three distinct types of Armagnac. A reception featuring tastes of Gascony from D’Artagnan and CHNY cooks will precede the presentation.
A member of CHNY, David Lincoln Ross is a journalist and writer on food, wine, spirits, and travel. His work has appeared in
www.thedailybeast.com, Cigar Aficionado, Food Arts, Forbes, Fortune, Gourmet, Saveur, Time and Wine Spectator. In 1993, David was inducted into the Compagnie des Mousquetaires d'Armagnac, an international society devoted to the pleasures of France's oldest brandy.
