The clam bellies at New England Seafood Company were breaded way to heavily for me to enjoy. Seafood flavored fried dough balls.

boudreaulicious, for sure they are fried to order, but I strongly believe that they are breaded and then frozen immediately to preserve them. As bud r said, clam bellies are extremely perishable.

And the seasoning was just way too heavy. I couldn't hardly taste the clam through the breading and over the top seafood seasoning.

Yeah--my last batch which I recall being close in time to your last post, were heavier than I would've liked, though still tasty. I would like to try them again with the lighter, flakier coating. I live 2 blocks away and eat there pretty frequently so I'll ask and report back soon.

I like the clam strips at Calumet Fisheries — but it's been a while since I've had them.
