FDA has shuttered the Sunland peanut butter factory

Hi- The FDA just closed the Sunland peanut butter factory. Sundland was recently involved in a major recall, and supplies Trader Joes and many other stores with peanut butter. Here is the information.

Hi- I just checked on TJ's website, and they are no longer sourcing peanut butter from Sunland. Apparently they haven't since the recall back in September. I know some other stores such as Dominick's and Jewel were sourcing their store brand organic peanut butter from Sunland. I don't know if they continued to after the recall though. Personally I like WF's peanut butter the best, but because of the drought last year, it got too expensive for me, but it has gone down in price recently and so it is affordable again. For some reason I prefer the taste of WF's conventional peanut butter to their organic version. For a while though that was $3.99 a jar, even though it had been $2.29 previous to the drought. Now it is back down to $2.99 a jar. Thanks, Nancy

The WF organic peanut butter has sugar and palm oil (for consistency of texture and no stirring required). The conventional is simply peanuts and salt (and requires stirring due to the peanut oil separating). I think there may also be an unsweetened version of the organic. I prefer the conventional as well.

Thanks. Current jar isn't on the list. I typed in the SKU into find on the recall page. It's the unsalted creamy organic peanut butter. I added a teaspoon of coarse Kosher salt to it.

New fave PB: self-ground honey-roasted peanuts from WF (!). They got rid of the almond grinders, and swapped this in. GENIUSNESS. Great on sharp cheese, tart apples, and especially these five-ingredient flourless peanut butter cookies. Can't get any fresher than that, really. And you can grind precisely as much as you want, need, or can handle.
