I am trying to recall the name of an Irish bar just north of the loop which was famous both for its steamed Dungeness Crab and a waiter who was a disbarred lawyer. I think it was on a corner. The bar was on the first floor, the dining room on the second.

Anyone have an idea of the name and if it is still around?

    Thanks.

Hobson's Oyster Bar, at the corner of State & Illinois, is long gone. I don't know about the waiter but the original owner, Homer Hobson, once was a circus bareback rider.

The worst part is that there was a one hour delay before the answer. What kind of search engine is this?!

I presume you were once there, how many grease stains would it earn?

I met you at a Southern Foodways Symposium some years ago. It was soon after LTHforum began.
