From the petition site: "Founded in 1996, San Francisco Baking Institute is a small, family owned and operated school whose aim is to promote and elevate the traditions of artisan baking. We have trained thousands of bakers from all over the world, ranging from enthusiasts to professionals.
SFBI has always been a fully licensed and legal business, but is now faced with red tape regarding its application for license renewal from the state. On December 21st 2012, SFBI received an abatement notice from the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education, ordering the school to shut down effective immediately.
Please help us request the right to remain open while the state reviews our application for license renewal. Help us continue to share our love for baking."
