For two days next month iNG Restaurant and Bread & Wine will be swapping restaurants and serving a special five course meal (with pairings). This is set to take place on March 12th and 13th (so if interested, one could experience both meals). Chef Cantu's menu will be inspired by the dishes he served during the recently aired Iron Chef competition (against Chef Morimoto) - though he is toning down the use of herring. While the cost of these dinners is a bit pricey ($120), they are all-inclusive and cover food, beverage pairings, tax and gratuity (they can be booked via Table Host). This seems like such a fun idea and both menus look outstanding.

Here is a link to a story in Eater about this event that contains links to the menus and for securing reservations: http://chicago.eater.com/archives/2013/ ... -month.php

iNG is located on 951 W. Fulton Market in Chicago (the Bread and Wine menu will be served here during the swap)
Bread and Wine is located on 3732 W. Irving Park Rd. in Chicago (iNG's menu will be served here).

While less weird than the Alinea*/Eleven Madison Park swap, I'm not sure I get the point. iNG should take over Superdawg or Kuma's for a night or two - forcing them into those formats might make for some creative dining - this is just a temporary relocation.

As for Alinea going anywhere else, I heard Grant Achatz speak recently where he said he thinks restaurants should move around like art exhibits do. I get the appeal, but places like Alinea (and French Laundry) are as much about their geographical location as they are about food, so it's like ordering take-out, I'm sure the food is good, but the experience is different than eating at the restaurant.

Just a quick heads up to say that this event has been postponed. I will update if I hear of new dates.
