Travel and Leisure ranked Chicago #1 for pizza again, and for good reason- we have the best pizza in the world. Whether it's deep dish, stuffed, Chicago style thin crust with homemade sausage cut into squares, Neapolitan, artisinal, New Haven, NYC, bakery style- we have it all here in one city- Chicago. Great Chicago style pizza, whether it's thin crust or deep dish, for the most part, just cannot be had outside of Chicago and the suburbs. The people over on the East Coast based Slice Serious Eats are very upset by Chicago being number #1 again, but I think Travel and Leisure definitely got it right. Pizano's, Pizzeria da Nella, Coalfire, and Burt's Place are all specifically mentioned. I've been lucky enough to enjoy pizza from all over America (particularly NYC), but in the end, our hometown Chicago pizza styles reign supreme.

Same bunch listed best cities for hamburgers. Chicago was listed near the top. Of the two places mentioned, one was The Billy Goad. So much for list credibility.

Well, in terms of pizza, at least they got the city right- Chicago. There is definitely good pizza in other parts of America, but we here in Chicago definitely have the best.

I don't know, deepdish. Can you be considered impartial? :)

@pancake: As much as I like deep dish pizza, I love Chicago style thin crust with sausage every bit as much, but for very different reasons. I wish our thin crust places got more attention. At least this article mentioned Pizano's not just for their deep dish, but also for their thin crust. In my humble opinion, our thin crust places could have won over the rest of America on their own merit, without deep dish even in the conversation. Like I've said before, I can't imagine growing up anywhere else in America when it comes to pizza. It's actually about time for an LTHforum thin crust pizza crawl, if my cardiologist gives me the green light. God bless our city.

New York has pretty damn good pizza, and probably more varied and abundant neo-Neopolitan places, in addition to the thousands of standard NY-style places of varied quality. You can even find decent thin crust once in a while. I still think NY takes #1 for pizza. For example, I can't think of one restaurant in Chicago where I would buy and eat a single slice of reheated pizza.
