Didn't see a dedicated thread to this place. So here goes:

Haven't been there in four years and after tonight's mean, I will be back very soon, perhaps next tuesday.

    Dinner:

Guacamole with "Lots of different fruit" to quote the ever gregarious & warm Chef Paco. Excellent. Jicama, strawberries, grapes.

Carne Xcaret with a Poblano Mole & Pipian Mole - Best asada I've had in at least 8 years. Perfectly medium, seasoned well, juicy, artfully plated and the two moles where rich with a depth of flavor i haven't had since Topolobompo. A licked that plate clean

Chicken Mole - Same poblano mole as above, but with juicy strips of chicken breast. My wife ordered it and I ate half. I expected a train wreck and it was anything but.

Kid's Chicken Quesadilla - Even these were great. Juicy chicken, chihuahua cheese

Hot Chocolate - The kid ordered a chocolate milk and they brought out their homemade hot chocolate by mistake. Once the boy saw it, there was no turning back. Excellent.

Premium Margarita: 16.95, came in a cocktail shaker with about 7 small tumblers worth. The only bad thing about our meal. Too sweet, no discernible tequila strength, no balance. I never order margaritas. I stick with Mezcal/Good Tequila and Soda with a splash of fresh lime, so maybe I'm not used to the sweet, sweet Rita', but this drink tasted just like Spring Break 98'. I had to order a soda water to cut it up a little. I told Chef Paco that it was weak and too sweet and he seemed to understand and then rushed off to what I thought was to get me more tequila, but all he did was send the server back to see if we needed more drinks. Obvious miscommunication. I sucked it up and ate my steak. I'd totally order a modified version next visit, if this drink was made right, it would be a great bang for your buck.

Great great meal. Good service and as always, Chef Paco was present and engaging.

NR has been a perennial favorite of the forum and I am surprised there was not a dedicated thread.

I have always enjoyed my visits! The Chef has always been a Gem and the food, great.

I am wondering how he is splitting his time with the new restaurant? It would not be the same without him.

Is this the same as the place that just opened on Superior and Wabash? It's looked quite empty so far.

That is the same place on Superior.

Chef Paco showed me pictures of the new space and said they have not had an official opening yet. He said "ohmygod, I am so busy."

Wow! For the last two weeks or so he has had a lot of pictures on Facebook of visitors to the new place.

this is my favorite Oak Park restaurant! when i spoke to him last week, he explained he would spend most of his time at the Oak Park location, and his son and Reyna (sp?) who is one of the best servers ever, would be at the new space full time. the new space looks beautiful in the photos, surely i will check it out soon.
