At the conclusion of the April meeting of the LTH North Lunch Group - which was actually in May - our discussion (usually started by WillG)naturally dealt with where should we eat next. After throwing out a few random spots, Cathy2 suggested Boston Fish Market.

As Esteemed Coordinator, I took it upon myself to do due dillegence and check out this spot before suggesting it to my fellow comrades. The Lunch Gods were on my side and I stopped by there today to check it out. Who's standing in line in front of me? Ronnie_Suburban.

Today's lunch solidified the LTH love about this place. You can read all about it here - http://lthforum.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f= ... oston+fish

As noted in the original LTH post - there's limited table seating at this place. Now that the weather's turned nice - we're going to dine alfresco. About a mile from BFM is Lake Park - http://www.dpparks.org/Facilities/LakePark.aspx - there are numerous shelters with picnic tables. Let's meet at the shelter closest to the corner of Howard & Lee streets. Hopefully we won't replicate the incident with law enforcement that we had at last year's LTH North picnic in Highland Park. 8)

What about the food? Glad you asked. I spoke to the nice young lady who took my order today to get some suggestions. She recommeded both the Great Lakes Combo Platter (whitefish, smelts, lake perch and walleye) and the Fisherman's Platter (scallops, shrimp, Lake Erie perch, and grouper). Each platter serves about three people and they come with cole slaw, french fries and sauce. She also suggested that we get a couple of cold side salads - greek olive, shrimp, pasta, crab meat and potato. The salads are sold by the pound.

Enough of my babbling. Let's get the RSVP list going. As the date gets closer we can work on the logistics. As always - bring a friend.

    Hi,

Helen and I will attend. Put a plus one, because my Mom may want to attend, too.

Sadly, I can't make this one, but I can heartily recommend the perch and the jumbo shrimp.
The fries, not so much... but last time I mentioned this to one of the people working there, and they said to ask for them well done.

If needed I can bring paper plates, plastic utensils and cups. I have at least two plastic tablecloths in my trunk, too.

OK - I plan to stop by or call BFM tomorrow with our order. Since we're up to 16 attendees, I'll order five or six of the platters and one or two whole charcoal grilled fish. Maybe a pound of each of the five cold side salads? Is that too little/much? Feel free to chime in with any other suggestions.

Thanks to Cathy2 for offering tablecloths, plates and utensils. I'm not sure why she travels with plastic tablecloths in her trunk.

I'll bring a case of bottled water. Though if you have a personal beverage preference, feel free to bring it.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday. :D

Forgot to mention - the tables under the shelter are bolted to the ground. I assume whoever get there early can snag/reserve a couple of tables. Thanks!

Are the shelters such that we would be protected if the predicted thunder storms hit?

Would you recommend parking at the Lutheran Church? It appears to be right by the shelter.

    YM,

Are we feeling a bit guilty? 8)

Did a drive by this morning at around 11 after placing the order. The lot looks very convenient to our spot. It was empty except for a couple of cars near the building.

There are no restricted street parking issues on either Howard or Lee to deal with - unless there's more than 2" of snow tomorrow.

For the early birds - perhaps a third table might be a good option? We can always give it up. Thanks. EC

Forgot to mention - there are bathrooms (permanent structure) on the Lee St side of the park about a 1/2 block from where we're eating.

Our shelter is closer to Howard & Lee - next to the church parking lot.

    Hi,

At Dave's request, I inserted a picture of the shelter two posts above.

Dave - when you pick up the food, can you ask them what is the difference between 'lake perch' and 'Lake Erie perch.' I wonder if both may be yellow perch.

I have all the picnic supplies waiting by the door.

Helen cannot make it, so I am bringing my Mom, instead.

    Regards,
    Cathy2
