French Bistro open on Sundays?

So.... Dad wants French for Father's Day. My old standby Le Bouchon is closed on Sundays.

What's the best alternative?

Bistrot Margot?
Bistrot Zinc?
Chez-Joel?
Bistro Voltaire?

Someplace else? Henri is a little pricier than we're looking for, by comparison. LM back when it was in Lincoln Square had great recs on this board, but it doesn't seem so quite as popular now that it's in the Hotel Felix downtown.

Trying to stick not too far from River North/Loop as my brother has to get out to MDW after dinner, so that rules out Bistrot Campagne.

Bistro Campagne. Head and shoulders above the other options you listed IMHO. A quick look on Open Table and they appear to have tables available but may depend on the size of your group. Thanks for reminding me that I probably need to make a plan for my own group

I concur with the love for Bistro Campagne, but sounds like that's geographically undesirable for you. What about Cyrano's? Strictly speaking not a bistro, but the menu's consistent with most of the ones you mentioned. I haven't been there in a couple of years but have always had good experiences and it's a pretty good value for the money.

Ok, was going to try to redeem myself ( ) but mon Dieu, it ain't easy to find a French restaurant open on Sunday!! I was going to suggest Kiki's Bistro, which I used to love but haven't been to in years, or Le Sardine (sister--or would that be brother--spot to Le Bouchon)--but both are closed on Sunday.

Mon Ami Gabi? Convenient to hopping on the drive to get down to MDW and actually, still, one of my favorite old standbys. Certainly could do worse (Bistro Zinc )

A nice choice, but a bit above the "bistro" category, would be La Petite Folie on 55th St. in Hyde Park. it offers good quality French cuisine and service.
And it is closer to MDW.

What about Le Petit Paris? They're open on Sundays and Alain is wonderful!

Bistronomic may be a bit higher on the price point than you are looking for, but is another option in the area.

Chez Joel, mentioned upthread, would be on the way to MDW, and seems to fit the bill.

My wife and I had a decent meal at Paris Club the Sunday before Memorial day.

Maude's Liquor Bar is open on Sunday. On Randolph in west loop, so could be on the way to MDW depending on where you're coming from.

It's a shame that so many good choices are closed Sundays, especially Kiki's Bistro. Le Petit Paris is probably not a bad choice, but having lived in Streeterville forever, and having tried to find good bistro food on Sunday night many times, I have never had a disaster at Gabi. It's always festive, always jammed on Sunday night with people enjoying themselves immensely. Steak Frites, Profiteroles, the usual suspects, are always good, service on a bad night is always satisfactory. Once, a lady in my small party didn't like her entree. The waiter apologized, returned immediately with a menu, quickly brought a new entree she chose, and we were not charged for either one. They try.

It's not perfect, but it's right on Lake Shore for an easy trip down to I-55 and out to Midway, valet parking is offered, and I bet the Father's Day crowd will be even more ebullient than usual, if you can get a table.
