I'd prefer Saturdays. Anyone game for a southern theme? I know I'm partial to those foods from that part of the country but I hope to make some of these as well this season.

    Thanks

I liked the county/region theme. But it might be fun to highlight something seasonal too. Like tomatoes in season, for example. Or greens next week.

Of course, I tend to plan my dishes like this anyway. I know many folks who have expressed interest are farmer's market shoppers, so I thought I'd throw it out there.

Of course, smoked and grilled meats are always in season.

Matt and I have talked about this already, but for the record, one day's theme needs to be "jerk." Just that. Interpret as you see fit. 8)

Southern could be great, I'll be sure to coordinate the date for that one with you!

I'm looking forward to the BBQ, I made a New Orleans style chicken liver pate, and some stewed chicken gizzards. I also have a facebook event set up for the BBQs, and it is more active than this LTH event thread. I don't know how to keep the 2 event venues merged/up to date the easiest. I certainly don't want to move the conversation completely off of LTH. Lots of LTHers have RSVP'd on facebook or via email and it looks like we'll have 16 to 20 people coming and lots of good food!

I was wondering if it would be appropriate to post the link to the facebook event here too? Maybe keep the ongoing events organized via a public facebook invite and post pictures and results here? If this seems appropriate to the board moderators I'll go ahead with it.

Anyhow, So far we have people bringing:

    Spare ribs
    Collards
    corn bread
    red beans
    a southern veggie
    chicken liver pate
    gizzards
    homebrew
    pimento cheese
    strawberry rhubarb pie

This rain is weak! In case anyone wonders, the picnic is still on! I have a tent, a tarp, and a couple extra chairs. I'll be there in 15 minutes!
