Miko's Italian Ice

I know that there is a lot of love for Mario's on the forum (I love it, too), but I was surprised to see that Miko's didn't even have it's own thread with only a sparse mention here or there. Since moving to Logan Square Miko's has probably been the place I've been to most frequently. I'd say it's a little bit denser than Mario's without quite as many chunks of fruit (and no lemon rind) but otherwise on the level. My favorites so far may be the cantaloupe or the banana with chocolate chip. I know they have another location in Bucktown that I believe is the original.

Miko's is very good. It's different from Mario's which is Italian Lemonade. Miko's is straight up Italian Ice. There are seasonal flavors, made with real fruit. Last year I remember blueberry as a standout.

Miko's is FANTASTIC. We frequent the Logan Square location quite a bit and the variety of flavors is always amazing.

It is hard to stray from the Lemon for me, though I have really enjoyed the watermelon, lime, pineapple, coconut (very ice cream-ish), orangezilla and cherry.

I normally go witha combo to get a mix of 2 flavors.

Just saw Miko's on WGN's Chicago's Best. They featured them making their lemon ice (with real fruit - imagine that!) but I am partial to 1 scoop of chocolate and 1 scoop of coconut. It is the perfect summer treat. FYI - Cash only.

After 21 years in Bucktown, Miko’s Italian Ice has closed its original location.
