Jam, Jelly, Preserves...they all make me very happy. The problem is, you usually see jars that are 8 ounces or more in stores, and I just don't eat it that much. I end up eating the same jelly for a year.

Where can I find some nifty flavors in small jars? Even the tiny 1-ouncers would be nice. I'd love to buy from etsy, but I'm afraid if they don't use proper technique I could die. Suggestions? (Other than making it myself!)

I haven't looked in some time, but there used to be little teeny jars of bonne maman and some other brands at Cost Plus World Market.

I almost always make some of my jam in less than 8 oz jars. Just email me. You will know the technique & have no fear of dying.

    Pie Lady,

The only itty bitty portions I see are in restaurants.

I often see the little tiny jars at restaurants, gas stations, and historic parks' gift shops, but in rural southern areas. The last little jar I bought was of FROG jam and TOE jam at Stone Park, GA and in an Iron Skillet/Petro rest stop somewhere between here and there in 2011.

They keep for a while in the refrigerator. My favorite jam that is store bought is Hero Cherry jam. Its got dark cherries in it and it is delicious. I think its imported from Switzerland.

We were on the East Coast last weekend, just outside of Boston. We were luck to stumble upon a farmers' market Thurs. aft. in Salem, MA. We found 2 oz jars of preserves from Dole's Orchard. We grabbed Strawberry-Pomegranite and Peach Melba. They have other interesting flavors, as well as standards offered at their website:

I bought a jar of raspberry Casa Giulia last week for a recipe and realized I didn't need it after all, so I kept it for myself. It's really delicious and dark and made with agave juice instead of sugar. They call it a fruit spread, and it has the consistency of apple butter. I believe I bought this at MarketPlace, and I can't wait til cookie season so I can try this out.

I made a linzertorte for a friend's birthday the other day, and baked the leftover dough in balls. They held their shape perfectly, so I think I might make linzer thumprints with this stuff.
