I thought I would post a few images from the very well-regarded modernist restaurant, Catbird Seat in Nashville, located above a very compelling, if somewhat loud, cocktail bar, Patterson House. Catbird Seat is a counter that is three sides of a square: cooking in the round, with an audience of 32 under the control of chefs Josh Habiger (Alinea, Craft, and Fat Duck) and Erik Anderson (French Laundry, born in Chicago), both with a Minnesota connection.

The Oyster was fresh and cool with enough ramp flavor to make it compelling

Like so much Pad Thai, this dish was too sweet.

Not especially special but a nice soup.

This was a nice combination which could have used more in the way of Sea Urchin
Catbird Seat - Nashville - June 2013 - Grilled Pigeon with Peaches, Smoked Yogurt, and Chanterelles by

This was the best of the dishes of the night. Really beautiful and superbly cooked. All the right flavors.
The next dish, which was also excellent, but my photo did not come out well. Perhaps I was thinking of the Grilled Pigeon:
Lamb Loin and Neck with Raspberry and Red Pepper with Potato and Onion.

Ahh, hay ice cream is the new vanilla.

An Arpege egg for dessert, or, perhaps, breakfast.

A perfectly fine dessert, but more straight-forward than I expected.

Toast, as every breakfaster knows, isn't really about the quality of the bread or how it's sliced or even the toaster. For man cannot live by toast alone. It's all about the butter. -- Adam Gopnik
