Hi- I am sad to report that I found out that they had already ordered pizza from Sarpino's. They had six large pizzas delivered at 3:00pm, and they had requested that three large pizzas be delivered at 6:00pm. The first batch was ok but not great, even though some people commented about how good it was. The second batch arrived at 6:00pm, and I tried a piece from the second batch, and the dough was still semi raw on all three pizzas. The person that originally ordered the pizzas called them up after she received numerous complaints about the pizza, and they did deliver three more pizzas, but it took them about an hour to deliver them. The replacement pizzas were at least edible and cooked all the way through, but I am never ordering pizza from them.
The birthday cake was fantastic. It was a three layer cake, and it came from a bakery in Westmont. The person who's birthday was being celebrated today just turned 60, and as a sideline he is a jazz drummer, and so the cake was made to look like a drum. They also had a watermelon bowl that was filled with fruit, and they had a huge tossed salad, and some snack food.
BTW- They had a smaller crowd than expected. Only six of the twenty musicians that were invited to the party showed up, and so there were probably about 20 people all together at the party. The musicians performed for about three hours, and there was a jazz pianist/vocalist, who is going to be a Senior at Northwestern this fall, who was wonderful. I forget her name, but something tells me that she is going to make a name for herself. She is originally from Connecticut, and she has not decided if she will stay in the Chicago area when she graduates next summer, or go back home to Connecticut, and try to make it in NYC. She said that she has been doing some private parties this summer. Thanks, Nancy
