The venerable Downtown Evanston Farmers Market (and the other markets in Evanston) begat an organization that supports the goal of educating folks about the joys and benefits of exceptionally fresh food and making markets available to people of all income levels. That group, the
Friends of Evanston Farmers Markets holds an annual
"Harvest Celebration" that pairs producers with a bunch of excellent chefs. It's held at
Now We're Cookin', a culinary center also in Evanston.
This year the event is on September 26, a Thursday. It's always a Thursday because that's the most convenient day for the farmers who are involved, and this event is all about the farmers and ranchers, and the product they bring to market for fully six months out of every year.
A dozen chefs have already signed on. This has really turned into an outstanding annual event.
