    Nice to see things shaping up for the Picnic--my favorite LTH event.

    I will continue the (now multi-year) tradition of bringing Will Specials from the Riviera deli, apportioned into appetizer-sized bundles of savory toothsome-ness. Add 'em to your dance card, folks, but look for them early as they tend to disappear quickly.

    Yes, I expect it'll be a non-trivial effort to locate these little devils (diavolinos?) among the seething confetti-like cloud of picnic enticements...after all, this is the LTH Picnic, a celebration of culinary diversity and occasional excess. But in Chicago we're made of stern stuff and I'm confident that we'll again rise nobly to meet this annual challenge. Just resolve to crank up the juice to your sensory circuits, lubricate the expansion joints in your stomach, and have at it!

    For our newer friends, I'll offer a 5-word Picnic Mantra to help guide you:

      Mingle;
      ingest;
      imbibe;
      burp.
      Repeat.

    Hi,

    How about plastic tablecloths? It does mean you have to arrive early to help with setup. Does that work?

    Regards,

    We can do that. I think we might be there closer to 9:30, but we'll try for 9. What does setup entail? How many tablecloths should I get? Are the ones at the dollar store sufficient?

    Hi,

    Cheap is fine, since they are just tossed. I expect we will have a dozen tables, though I will know better on Monday.

    You don't need to come that early.

    I'll be there. I might be out of town just before the picnic, returning late the night before, so it's likely I won't have time to make anything. I'll probably pick up some Jim Shoes, cut into small pieces, from one of the finer purveyors.

    My Bride and I will be in attendance.

    While I will not have a lot I will be making some Carne Asada for laikom's Taco Stand. :)

    Bringing a small grill with enough charcoal to last the day.

    My Bride is still thinking over her contribution.

    If anyone wants a bag for their use, I can pick up one or two more. This is 60 ears for $20. grown in Wheeling.

    My parents are visiting and I just convinced them to come, so please up me to me +4. They'll be bringing something, I'll have details tomorrow.

    For grilling I've got Bean and BR down for grill time, and I have more availability if anyone needs grill time (please PM me to confirm). I'm also bringing a 2 burner camp stove if anyone needs a burner for a bit. I'll have a griddle on it as well.

    For the corn I'm going with a couple types of Argentinian Humita and a couple Elotes variations.
