Let me take this opportunity to thank everyone for making this the best LTH Picnic Evah! Cathy2's organizational skills were on full display and we couldn't have scripted any nicer weather for this year's picnic.

I've put together a slideshow that you can watch at http://www.lthforum.com/2013/09/picnic/. I hope to put captions to all of the pictures in the next day or so, but I didn't want to wait any longer to share these photos with you.

As always, Cathy really did a great job organizing, as did everyone helping out. Thanks LTH for being such a great community! Everything I ate was pretty much amazing, but I have to say the only thing I ate 2 of was RAB and REB's vietnamese pork sliders. My award for best presentation goes to Rene. Subtlety. Someone suggested he get napkins or forks, but I thoroughly enjoyed eating the jim shoe with my fingers while Peter held the tray for me.

I ditched the obligatory "can pop" but for the sake of authenticity I carried around the "free fries with all sandwiches" and a little tub of mild sauce. No question, I should’ve supplied napkins; forgetting to have a stack handy was an oversight. Eating a Shoe is messy business, especially when it’s sliced into such small pieces. But using utensils seems entirely wrong, like eating a fully-dressed hot dog with knife and fork. The advice I got from a Mexican restaurateur on how to approach a particularly messy torta ahogada applies equally to Jim Shoes: "Just pick it up . . . and kill it."

Nonsense! Limited number of napkins is only part of the experience. Asking for extra napkins with your shoe will just about always net you two, which go to use after the first bite. Pretty confident in saying that's the 1st time and last time a Jim Shoe sandwich will be eaten in LaBaugh Woods...unless someone decided to go full tilt at next years 'nic and make their own version with Manny's Corned Beef (Or Moon's!), Roast Beef from Al's Deli and Doner meat from Cafe Orchid.

    GNR Jim Shoe anyone?

I think it's time for LTH to have an official flag. I vote for Jazzfood's design, below:
