Just saw this in the Tribune - no idea if there are still places available but cool idea -

Add celebrity chef Art Smith to the chorus of people denouncing the recent remarks by Barilla pasta head Guido Barilla, whose comments on keeping gay couples out of his company's advertising provoked world-wide outrage ...

    (snip)

And so there will be a brunch, with room for perhaps 100 people, in Smith's garden."One of the best ways to get people together," Smith said, "is to feed them."

And here's the thing: It's free.

If you want in, email the chef at chefartsmith@gmail.com. It's first-come, first-served. Barilla pasta will not be served.

"I'm not trying to raise money," Smith said. "I just want to raise awareness."

Lorena Garcia will be cooking with him.

Hi- Actually according to the article, the brunch is going to take place this Saturday at 2:00, which is kind of weird, because Art Smith is going to be speaking at the Chicago Gourmet program on Saturday from 1:30-2:00.

As if anyone needed a reason beyond the crappy quality to avoid Barilla products.

A couple great lines from Reuters: "The controversy generated Internet satires. BuzzFeed featured a picture showing heterosexual couples lovingly eating pasta together with the words: "Spaghetti is straight".

Another image posted widely on Twitter and Facebook showed the trademark blue Barilla pasta box with the letters "Bigotoni" on it, rather than "Rigatoni"."
