I'm making my inaugural visit to Rainbow Thai this evening for my birthday. I have a reservation for six people at 6:30, but I have only been able to rustle up three other people who were available and ok with my stipulation that I get to pick what we all eat family style. Anyone interested in joining our table?

Proposed menu (with some consideration for a non-pork eater in our group):
    - naem khao thawt
    - mussels pancake
    - banana blossom salad
    - sai qua
    - kai tod
    - red curry with beef
    - ground chicken basil with egg
    - tod mun
    - mushroom salad
    - raw shrimp salad
    - crispy pad sie ewe with beef

I wish I could make it but it doesn't look very likely at this point. I wanted to make one suggestion to the menu if you don't mind. I REALLY love the red curry with roasted duck in it, and the beef is probably the only meat I wouldn't recommend at Rainbow, as it's generally the flavorless chewy chinese takeout variety. Also, if you wind up drumming up enough dinning companions you should probably add the isan sausage too!

I was going to try suggesting this when we met up, but since laikom broached the subject, I'll immediately endorse his highly-informed recommendation right now.

Thanks for the suggestions! I actually called ahead already to order, but I do think that I'll call back and ask for the meat change in the curry. We had some confusion when ordering the sausage, so I think I ended up ordering the isan, but if I do happen to get a 6th by some time tonight, I'm definitely open to getting both.

I'd like to join, but I'll probably be about 15 min late.

Great! That should bring us to 6, but I'm sure that we could find a place around the table/order more food if others are interested. :)

Actually, I'm sorry eieileen, and I'm not usually this flaky, but I just realized that I won't be able to make it tonight. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful meal, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I wish I could make it for this, but I've already got plans tonight. I'm sure you will enjoy this dinner even more than the one we shared at Spoon. I'll be interested to hear your take. Happy Birthday Eieileen!

I'd love to hear a report about your first meal at Rainbow!
