    There was this great barbecue restaurant, originally on Lake Street and California, that served ribs and tips with a savory sauce. They never made anything sweet tasting. The recipe was based in vinegar and cayanne pepper

    and was fantastic. Unfortunately after a couple of moves the restaurant went out of business and the recipe was lost. Hopefully someone either knows where I'm talking about and can recommend another restaurant or recommend a recipe that will satisfy my need for unsweetened savory barbecue.

    The sauce that you reference sounds a lot like the Hot Sauce at Lem's. It's piquant having the consistency and a bit of the flavor of buffalo wing sauce.

    Wow, sounds a little like what I remember from the old Sally's on Western, although not terribly spicy. I too will have to give Lem's a try.
