I'm looking for someplace to get Greek sausage. The one place that used to have it in Greek town at the south end of the Halsted strip no longer carries it.
Would prefer someplace on the north side.

Do you mean Athens Market as the place that no longer carries it? I assume so and find that sad. First they stopped with the roasted lamb, then with the raw lamb, now the sausage... I guess the demand dropped off.

The butcher shop at the next corner up used to carry it too but they, like iguanadon, are gone.

I think I have seen it in Andy's, the grocery store on the first block on the eastside of Kedzie just south of Lawrence. They carry lots of Greek items and so I hope I'm not remembering incorrectly where it is I last saw whereof you speak.

Check with Greek Islands restaurant. They sell some grocery items (olive oil, wine, honey) that they import themselves and might be convinced to sell sausage, too. I really love the sausage there.

Some other Greek food purveyors I know about, but no guarantees that they sell sausage or even still exist:

If you're serious about this, and can't find it anywhere else, and you can find a recipe for it, Joe, of Joe's Meat (4551 N. Western) would very likely make it for you.

While you're there you should try out his cured meats, esp. the fireman's blend. Just the right amount of spice, and a great price (something like $5.50/lb).

Most things Greek (excellent lamb, olives, wide assortment of cheese and fresh baked goods) can be had at Columbus Market in Des Plaines.

The Delphi Supermarket on Lawrence is no longer Greek. It was sold to Mexicans and may be defunct following problems with city inspectors. It has been pretty pitiful for the last few years.

Treasure Island's owners are Greek. They used to produce good Greek sausage, but I haven't bought any there since they closed the store on Lawrence a bit east of Rockwell quite some years ago.

I recently visited the Market Place on Oakton (in Skokie) for the first time, and despite the repeatedly high praise for this place on the site, I still found myself surprised by just how taken with it I was. Simply a wonderful market, and a model I wish other smaller, multi-ethnic markets around town could emulate.

And they have Greek sausage, made in-house. I bought some, and while a bit on the salty side, it was quite tasty.
