I need to chose a place for a celebration. I wanted to go to girl and the goat, but I couldn't get reservations for the day needed. about 100 bucks a head without wine. we've done, in previous years, tru, septia, north pond. any suggestions? I don't keep on top of these type of places. it has to take reservations.

MK has a nice very private room upstairs, as does Blackbird. Both places have been around long enough, and are serious enough, to handle that occasion well without any rookie mistakes and with good, attentive service.

It's been ages since I attended an investment presentation in Blackbird's upstairs private room, but I remember being disappointed. I'd been to Blackbird the Restaurant a couple of times and loved it. Upstairs, though, the food was not much better than "banquet food." I suppose the overall operation was smooth, so they get credit for that.

I'm not complaining, since it was a free meal after all, besides which, it may not be possible to serve Blackbird-level food in that kind of situation. The food experience was probably, in fact, the very best that one could hope for under the circumstances. I'm just saying that if you do choose Blackbird, prepare to adjust your expectations--at least, based on my experience, which may well have been a one-off.

Frontera Grill has a nice private room in the basement. They did an excellent job with an event for me about five years ago. I'm sure they have a minimum on busy nights, so may only make sense if you have enough people in your group.

How many people? I don't think I saw a number in your post.

You might want to consider the Wine Room at Nightwood.

Z, another thought is the Lobby at the Peninsula Hotel.
