ingrid and cathy have handed over hosting the next dessert exchange to me (thank you). but october 27th doesnt sound like it'll work out for either of them to attend. so i'm proposing a november date instead- not too close to thanksgiving. how many can attend on sunday, november 3rd at my place in wicker park? reminder for any newcomer: i have 2 cats, who can easily by kept out of sight. bring containers to take home your desserts- different ones for dry and wet desserts, if called for. i'll make a vegetarian supper. justjoan

great. i think we have enough committed bakers (and 2 maybes) to hold this thing. is 4:00 still what everyone wants for a starting time? i'll provide a vegetarian dinner and i'll make limeade and iced tea, sweet and unsweet. so please bring other beverages if you'd like something else to drink.

Is the year of cake over?

Not committing as yet. My life has been a whirlwind of late. Will let you know as soon as my schedule is set. That will be the beginning of tech week and there is a potential for a full costume rehearsal on that day. I'll check with my director and see if A) We are rehearsing that day, and/or B) what time potential rehearsal might be.

Hey, you're right, it's still the Year of Cake. Oh well. The exchange was on hiatus for two months, technically, so after this pie I'll make cake through March.

As it stands right now, we won't be having a rehearsal on the 3rd. If we don't get our act together and have bad rehearsals next week, that may change. Put me down for a Pumpkin Crumb Cake. You know I need to make something pumpking during this time of year.

I'm not hosting. But why don't you plan on attending & don't worry about baking? As generous as you've been, I can't imagine anyone would have a hard time with that or I can bring 2 desserts and you can just come. No seriously, I brought 2 desserts last time, so no big deal for me at all. If you want a bit of a break and the fellowship.

I'm so, so sorry about your father. xo.

Keep in mind you might have to take a break away from the hospital. It does get grueling at times. It depends on if your dad is stable. I look to that with my mom too, but of course plans can at the last minute.

I heard from Ingrid. I doubt she will make it. But she knows there's an invitation for her to come and fellowship if she feels like she can get a break. It's pretty hard right now.

My dad might be released from hospital to a geriatric unit at hospital as an intermediate step prior to going to in-patient rehab. I should know later today. My mom doesn't drive and I am my mom's driver for the moment. We'll find out when visiting hours are and that will give me a better idea about my availability.

BR's Japan pics made me pull out Kombu for dashi so will probably have udon unless I pick up ramen in the next few days for dinner.
