    Dear Joan,

Thanks for hosting. It maybe difficult to believe but that dinner was fantastic!

Here's a link for the rose water pound cake. It's this recipe from ATK's The Feed with the additions of 1T. Rose water added to the emulsion and pulsed 2-3 times. And 1/2 t. Of mace added to the liquid ingredients along with the dry ingredients. The additions are from an old CI recipe.

Thanks Joan. Great meal. Here is the recipe for the Chocolate Sheet cake. Its easy to make. If you make it in a nine by thirteen inch pan like I did you have to bake it ten to fifteen minutes longer.

    Hi,

Echoing everyone else's praise of the butternut squash lasagna and salad, it was all very good. I had been eyeing butternut squash lasagna recipes wondering if they'd be any good. Now it is high on my list of things to cook soon.

I sent recipes for the bread and tamales to your e-mail boxes.

Sweet tamales were influenced by this link. Making masa was influenced by this link and tips from reading this LTH thread. Seebee's encouragement influenced me to make masa from fresh ground instead of premade with lard from store. I did use butter instead of lard for the masa.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

here's the link to the lasagna recipe:http://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/butternut-squash-and-mushroom-lasagna

my notes: i added 2 large cloves of minced garlic to the ricotta mixture. the 4 cups of mozzarella = 1lb. this shouldn't be fresh mozzarella (i used scamorza from jp graziano's which is very similar to mozz). i used best quality ricotta, full fat (again, imported, from graziano's). 2cups of parmesan =.6lbs. the 2-1/2cups chopped onions=start with 1 lb. i did NOT use no-boil noodles-don't like them. do as you please. i just cooked regular noodles half as long as called for, placed them in a pan of cold water and layered them as needed. i also think the 13/x9 pan called for is too small. i used a taller sided le creuset pan and it came right up to the top. i'd suggest simply using slightly less of the cheeses and a little less squash. or make another, small gratin pan sized lasagna as well. enjoy. joan

I can't post the recipe. They are really funny about their stuff and I want no wars with them, especially since they are offering it for free with registration. You can register with your Facebook account and that makes it pretty easy. I've not seen any spam from them on Facebook and that's how I registered. It is a delicious cake. Maybe I will make it this weekend.

I made the sheet cake again for a few friends that came for dinner. Everyone had a second piece and loved it. I cut the recipe in half and baked it in an 8 by 8 inch pan. I am always looking for a recipe that make a small cake for a small family. My criteria:
    1. uses commonly found ingredients at home
    2. does not require a hand or stand mixer or a lot of creaming
    3. Can make in one round or small square pan
    4. Does not require sifting of flour
    5. Quick to make
    6. Is delicious

This meet all the criteria. Its easy to make. Also the frosting is easy and would also be great for frosting brownies. I've always been looking for a brownie frosting and this is one that would be good. It pours out of the pan and then firms up but never gets terribly hard. By the way will pictures be posted? I have some and could email them to somebody as I have not been successful in posting pictures here much to my frustration.

I finally got around to uploading these pictures from November. I read through the thread to refresh my memory on the dessert names, though there are gaps which I hope you will help fill.
