    Hello!
I could use help finding a place to hold a client dinner. I'm not too familiar with the north side's finer offerings, so I could use some recommendations.

~$15-$20 entree prices; upscale but not exorbitant.
~Not pin-drop quiet but not noisy; must be good for conversation
    ~"American" food or Italian.
~South of the 'burbs, north of Uptown; preferably near a Brown/Red/Purple line. Good parking is a plus but not a major point.

    I appreciate it!

Anteprima and Big Jones in Andersonville are close fits. Some entrees will be above $20 at each, but plenty of offerings in your target range.

boudreaulicious wrote:What are you considering "burbs"? Evanston? Skokie? Because the official northern boundary of Uptown is Foster, which automatically eliminates anything on the Brown and Red lines and all but Evanston and, marginally, Skokie on the Purple/Yellow. So, in other words, maybe you want to redefine your parameters a bit.

Isn't every stop on the Red Line from Berwyn to Howard north of Uptown and south of Evanston?

How about I try to provide some useful information :)???

Calo is a very decent, broad menu Italian spot in Andersonville that also has good meat and fish options. It will definitely fit the price range and the ambience there is good for a dinner meeting--not too loud but upbeat and a nice room. They also have free (? I think--if not free, really, really cheap with validation--like a buck or $2--can't remember) parking which can come in handy there.

Other options might be Fountainhead, Spacca Napoli (if on a week night, I don't think it's too crazy in there), Cara Mio--all near the Brown Line.

Not precisely in your geographic specs, but Due Lire in Lincoln Square might fit the bill....very easy walk from the Western Brown Line stop.

Uncommon Ground on Devon might work. Entrees are priced approximately right; it's conversation friendly as long as you're not in the room with the entertainment. It is a half-mile walk from the Loyola Redline stop, but the 155 bus leaves you right across the street if that's too far to walk.
