I agree. Thanks, Willie, for taking this on. I don't think I would have ever given this place a shot if you hadn't put this dinner together. Now, I can definitely foresee returning on a regular basis.

I posted some shots of the meal here.

The only negative was the 4 no-shows, who, for whatever reason, didn't even bother to let anyone know they weren't coming. That resulted in an unnecessary delay at the start of the meal, as we waited a while before proceeding without them. It also raised the price of the meal by $10 per person, since those who did attend had to pay for the food of those who neglected to show up. Other than that, it was a flawless evening.

agreed, when there is a set menu/price arranged between a group and the restaurant, when someone doesn't show it hurts the wallet of those that show. In the future, those that plan a large LTH outing where menu/payment per person is decided on beforehand, might want to take pre-payment to assure of this not happening again.
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.

Sorry if we were considered no shows but for the last week or so we were unable to access the board on any of our Apple computers. Seemed silly to go out when there was no indication that the event was taking place. All of a sudden this evening everything is OK again. What was going on?

    Inferior platform?

In all seriousness, we had no reports of inaccessible forums from anyone. Not on twitter, facebook or Pinterest.

ronnie_suburban@lthforum.com will (hopefully) always get you to a person (me!) who can convey your message.

Apologies. I can't imagine what was going on. I was on different networks, in different states, and for over a week could see the forum but, despite numerous attempts, could not access any boards with user contributed material. Kept getting a message that the site was being updated. Used iMacs, iPads and iPhones with the same result.

Seems like a call to the restaurant would've answered the question of whether the dinner was a go.

    Hi,

There is a ring of truth to Marija's comments. People who use ATT (Universe, I think) as their internet provider, there were issues on ATT's side. Steve and I had a back-and-forth dialogue with a member who received the same error messages, because ATT did not update our IP address for days after the change over.

While a call the the restaurant might have cleared things up, how would the restaurant make the connection of a large party under Sweet Willie's real name and LTH? We do actively discourage people not to use LTH when they make reservations for themselves.

While this was no fun to the people involved, this does underscore what happens when people back out at the last minute or reserve to keep their options open. It does affect the people who attend, so reserving and making good your promise to be there is meaningful.

    Regards,

Maybe I should have posted that I was having trouble accessing lth at home up until last weekend(ipad). I would get the message that the site was updating. My Small towne internet provider, just like last update was slow to get the updates, that's why I didn't share other than via pm with an admin, plus I could still access the site from work, so I wasn't to effected.

Sucks to have folks be no shows, my pet peeve about lth, that said I doubt anyone blows stuff off on purpose.
