You're not the first to ask, but Cathy's tips here are probably your best bet:

I'm curious as to why they need to be fresh.

I actually have come to respect and enjoy dried mushrooms for their concentrated flavor and more toothsome texture (and if you don't find fresh ones, you can use that as your rationale).

I concur. I love reconstituted dried mushrooms, and in many cases I'll buy the dried over the fresh when given the choice (especially with shiitakes).

Not only do I find the flavor and texture to be better, but you get a free bowl of mushroom stock after you let them soak for 10 minutes. Goes great with udon!

    Hi,

Your free to contact me to learn a source for fresh, though I would purchase them dried myself.

From the various truly wild mushrooms I have seen for sale in shops, they are usually in a poor condition. How poor? If I saw them in the forest, I would leave them there. Yet they still command a very steep price for a less than stellar product.

Dried is not an inferior choice as my friends here concur.

I am looking for fresh Porcinis to use on a pizza with buffalo mozzarella. I use dried Porcinis all the time, and have some in my cabinet now. However, I want to try fresh once - it's my birthday. I have seen them offered at the Green City Market in the past years, hence was asking if anyone had seen them this year.
